Still plenty to do!

The 2021-22 season is nearing its conclusion, although Moreirense FC and GD Chaves still have to play (playoff) for a place in the top Portuguese division.

However, I would like to extend a warm welcome to Rio Ave FC and Casa Pia AC who have both been promoted to the Liga Portugal bwin, and to União Desportiva Oliveirense and Sport Clube União Torreense who have won, by their own merit, a place in Professional Football and in the competitive Liga Portugal SABSEG 2022-23.

In addition, I would like to express my enormous appreciation for all the Sports Societies that represented and dignified the Portuguese Professional Football this season that culminated with the 30th league title for FC Porto, also giving a special mention to those that could not avoid relegation: CD Tondela and Belenenses SAD; A. Académica and Varzim SC (SC Covilhã will still play the playoff for continuity in the Liga Portugal SABSEG).

Now it is time to look to the future, which, strictly speaking, has already begun, to the need to adapt the season calendars of national competitions due to UEFA's new format applied to the competitions for the post-2024 period.
These changes require careful planning and a joint effort that will be initiated immediately, by calling, in the coming week, all the Clubs participating in the professional leagues for a thorough debate that will allow for a smooth adaptation of our Football to the new European competitive format. It is our clear intention to create conditions for the Portuguese Clubs to have better conditions at UEFA, contributing, consequently, to the national ranking.

In order to overcome this challenge, we remain committed to tackling violence in football, which was the topic of the meeting on Tuesday 17th with the Minister of Internal Administration and the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport, upon request from Liga Portugal. This is another further step to reinforce the work already being done with the APCVD (Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sport) and the Security Forces.

The effort for maintaining competitiveness in our Football will be challenging. This effort will continue to include coordination with the direct departments of Sports, as well as contacts with the Parliamentary Groups, with whom we have discussed new ways of enhancing the industry, which includes the revision of work accident insurances, the Centralization of Media Rights - crucial for the sustainability of Sports Societies -, the tax framework that limits the development of this activity, among many other priorities for which we will continue to fight!
