Gonçalo Inácio named Defender of the Month in Liga Portugal Betclic for December

The Sporting CP center-back racked up 18,80% of the votes from the head coaches of the competition

Gonçalo Inácio's impressive displays at the heart of Sporting CP's defence were awarded with the Liga Portugal Betclic Defender of the Month accolade for December. The Lions' center-back showed great consistency and won the preference of the competition's head coaches, receiving a total of 18.80% of the votes.

The 22-year-old Portuguese international beat António Silva (SL Benfica), who got 17.95 per cent, and his teammate Diomande, with 14.53 per cent of the votes.

Gonçalo Inácio also played 225 minutes in all three games during the period in question, making a decisive contribution to the Lions' 100% winning record.
